About Self-Conquest

Human capacity.
Responsible action.

Self-Conquest is Karina Carlos’s developmental approach to strengthening discernment, coherence, and the capacity to act responsibly under pressure.

It brings the work of human development into situations where judgment, communication, and responsibility meet.

What the name holds

Taking responsibility for how we meet the world.

Self-Conquest begins with the part of a situation we can take responsibility for: how we attend, interpret, respond, and act.

That involves learning to recognize what is shaping a response, hold a position with reasons, and remain open to correction. It also involves knowing when to ask for help, challenge an assumption, or pause before acting.

The aim is a more coherent relationship between what a person understands, what they communicate, and what they do.

Its relationship to Human Authority

The inquiry and the developmental work.

Human Authority is the integrated human capacity and legitimate standing to govern consequential action.

Human Authority names the broader construct. Its public definition and essays are authored by Karina Carlos and published at karinacarlos.com.

Self-Conquest develops human capacities relevant to its practice. Capacity and legitimate standing remain distinct: development does not itself confer a role, mandate, or right to decide on behalf of others.

Commitments in practice

What guides the work.

01 · Discernment

Begin with what the situation requires.

Attend to context, distinguish assumptions from what is known, and identify the question that needs judgment.

02 · Agency

Keep the person responsible for their thinking.

Support the ability to explain, question, revise, and act on a position. Guidance should strengthen that ability.

03 · Coherence

Connect judgment, language, and action.

Work with the relationship between what a person understands, what they express, and the consequences they are prepared to own.

04 · Integrity

Keep claims open to examination.

Distinguish developmental aims, observed experience, and evidence. Refine the approach as the work develops.

Self-Conquest is an approach in development. These commitments describe its direction; they are not a claim of scientifically validated outcomes.

A human relationship at the centre of the work.

Karina’s perspective brings together legal reasoning, business context, and communication practice in English and Spanish. Her work attends to how people think and respond when the stakes rise.

Self-Conquest connects that practice with the wider inquiry into Human Authority.
